A Tsugaru-jamisen Concert with Sato Michiyoshi

Location: Connable Recital Hall, Light Fine Arts Building at Kalamazoo College

Japan Twang! is an hour-long performance of Tsugaru-jamisen, a modern, improvisatory, and highly technical Japanese musical style performed on a three-stringed spiked lute called a shamisen. Translation and commentary will be provided by Joshua Solomon of Hirosaki University, Japan.

This even is in collaboration with Western Michigan University Haenicke Institute for Global Education and the Japan Foundation, New York.
